Sustainable Income from Exhaustible Resources

The book "Sustainable Income from Exhaustible Resources" offers a comprehensive analysis of the ecological sustainability of the fossil energy sector in India. It highlights the gaps in conventional national accounts, which often only capture market-based economic activities, thereby neglecting the true value of environmental goods and services. By applying the guidelines of the United Nations System of Integrated Environmental and Economic Accounting (SEEA 2003), a framework is established to account for natural resources and facilitate their integration into national accounts. The book aims to examine the impacts of resource use on sustainability by capturing physical and monetary assets for coal, oil, and natural gas in India. Additionally, an adjusted (green) GDP for the sector is estimated, taking into account the depletion of these non-renewable resources.
