The circle

The child stands in his mother's library, trying to understand what he has in front of him: books. The thirteen-year-old goes to his first heavy metal concert and realizes there that one can take art and existence seriously. A theater troupe ultimately teaches him the role of his life, and in the end, he understands the true and only myth of art: Just do it. Andreas Maier's "Der Kreis" is a reflection on how the provisional can become absolute, how one creates the motives of one's life through appropriation of the given, and ultimately, how one is constantly searching for what holds the world and the self together, even as a child.
