Hitze

Berlin, a few years after the fall of the Wall, a large kitchen in Kreuzberg supplying packaged meals to customers in both the West and the East. Here, amidst enormous pots and pans, we meet the assistant cook Simon DeLoo, a former cameraman whose life was shattered by the death of his partner, and who now delivers food in the transformed Berlin. On his routes, he encounters Lucilla, a young homeless woman from Poland, and believes he sees the silhouette of his late wife. He provides her with clothes, offers her his vacant apartment—but she shatters his web of illusions, eluding him, and it is only in her homeland, in the heat-drenched landscape of the Pomeranian Lake District, that he truly sees her: her face, which holds something brighter than intelligence, her body, which confuses him. Suddenly, he felt distinctly what was there.
