Product details
The outstanding significance of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), especially in clinical diagnostic imaging over the past three decades, is primarily based on its non-invasiveness, high spatial resolution, and various contrast options. The observation of self-diffusion, meaning the Brownian motion of water molecules as a statistical displacement distribution, allows for inferences about tissue structure on a microscopic scale, which is far below the spatial resolution of MRI. Clinical applications of diffusion MRI in neurological issues include the highly sensitive representation of tissue changes immediately after a stroke, in cases of inflammation and demyelination, as well as developmental variations and age-related or pathological degeneration processes.
