Sturm und Stille

Storm biographer and language magician Jochen Missfeldt tells the story of the love between Theodor Storm and his later wife Doris Jensen. In 1846, shortly after his wedding, the poet Theodor Storm begins a romantic relationship with Doris Jensen, the daughter of a senator from Husum. Both families belong to the Husum patriciate: they visit each other and engage in friendly conversations over tea and punch, playing Whist and L'Hombre. Storm's love for Doris becomes a heavy burden for his young marriage. It is not until 1848, when his wife Constanze is three months pregnant, that Doris leaves under pressure from the family elders of Husum. For fifteen years, she moves from place to place until her life takes an unexpected turn. This is the story of a remarkable woman who, despite all societal conventions, follows her own path.
