Studies of a new Streptomyces species isolated from Bangladeshi soil

The analysis of the 16S rRNA gene reveals a close relationship to Streptomyces caelestis, yet with notable differences in morphology and culture. The results suggest that MARS-5 can be classified as the type strain of a new species, Streptomyces ruparajensis. Additionally, the maximum production of an antimicrobial agent in a specific growth medium is described, showing effectiveness against certain bacteria, although no antifungal activity was detected.
