Product details

Although it is well known that the profession of a police officer is one of the most subjectively stressful, there are only a few scientific studies, especially in the German-speaking countries, that deal with this topic and examine the question of how police officers react to stressful events on duty. This study is intended to help close this gap and, among other things, explores the questions of which situations and events are perceived as stress by officers of the Austrian Federal Police and how stressful they are, what effects the stressors have on their official and private lives, and which ways of processing them are adopted. Furthermore, the probability of the occurrence of acute and post-traumatic stress disorders after experiencing very stressful events in the service will be explored. The questions will be examined with regard to differences based on gender, service experience and branch of service (security guard and criminal police).
