The textbook offers a comprehensive presentation of the general doctrines of criminal law. Its structure is divided into two parts. The basic structures necessary for basic understanding by first-year students are first presented in detail and explained using numerous case studies. This is followed by selected problem areas for exam candidates, where the main theories represented in science and practice are shown on the basis of a case study and the problems relevant to the exam are clarified by way of a 'repetition'. This is also the purpose of the compilations (structure and examination schemes, main problems) and definitions at the end.

This textbook offers a comprehensive overview of the general section of criminal law. Its structure is twofold. The Basic structures, which are essential for new students for gaining basic understanding, are firstly explained in detail and illustrated using numerous case studies. This is followed by selected problem areas for examination candidates, the main theories in science and practice are illustrated using case studies, and practice-relevant problems are clarified by means of a revision course. The overviews (structure and examination diagrams, problem areas) and definitions placed at the end have the same purpose.
