Stop Teaching!

New forms of dance and theater are increasingly being developed together with children and adolescents. In this process, they are taken seriously as actors and experts of their own lives: their knowledge, stories, experiences, and personalities are integrated – it is no longer about educating them through theater. Working with amateurs has long been an important part of new forms of professional theater. In this way, theater is once again taking on the character of a social experiment, where every individual can contribute with their personality. This creates spaces for creativity beyond educational objectives. This volume addresses the phenomenon comprehensively for the first time and includes contributions from renowned scholars, reviews of plays, and interviews with artists on the subject.
