Sepsis is a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by an impaired host response to an infection. If not treated promptly, it can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and even death. It can have various causes, with the most common being abdominal, pulmonary, or renal in nature, and its severity depends on different etiologies such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses. It is important that the severity is assessed in a timely manner in the intensive care unit to initiate appropriate treatment. Since the intensive care unit is a highly demanded facility, there is a search for a simple, easily accessible, and reliable scale to assess the prognosis of patients with abdominal sepsis in order to determine the severity and prognosis of the patient.
