Product details

Beauty, horror, sublimity, awe – mountain worlds have fascinated humanity since time immemorial. Stephan Huber ascends the snow-covered peaks "in miniature." In his sculptures, he shapes the relief of the mountains and creates theatrically graceful, object-like works. This extensive volume powerfully reflects the alpine cosmos that Huber has been engaged with for over four decades. Stephan Huber's "mountains" can be found everywhere: in museums such as the Hamburger Kunsthalle, the Bonn Museum of Art, or the Messner Mountain Museum, as well as in large installations in public spaces. His monumental contribution to the Venice Biennale in 1999 received international attention. The book brings together not only the famous snow-white peak sculptures but also early book objects, fictional expeditions, multiples, and exhibition views. Essays and an extensive conversation with Reinhold Messner about the inner and outer mountain worlds complete the volume.
