Stephan Balkenhol

Stephan Balkenhol (born 1957) has created a monumental bronze sculpture for the National Bank in Essen, commissioned for the Bredeneyer Kreuz. The work, titled Duett, features a wing with two figures – the singer in a red evening gown stands high atop the instrument, while the pianist lies face down playing the keys. The well-equipped volume presents the work in the context of Balkenhol's overall oeuvre, along with numerous sketches and photos documenting the creation process and the installation of the sculpture in Essen.
