What is remembered

Since arriving in New York, Mahesh has forgotten many things: his father's profession, his grandparents' place of residence, his caste. Above all, he cannot remember his mother's name at all. This is particularly problematic, as he cannot fill out his citizenship application without it, cannot become an American citizen, and cannot advance in his company. The search for the lost name takes him to Jackson Heights, to Little India. There, he receives a sweet treat with magical nuts and meets a lie expert who wants to help jog his memory. But was Mahesh's grandfather a union lawyer? Did his family trade in human hair, skeletons, and live frogs? Was his mother's name really Indira Gandhi or Henry Ford? What is truth, and what is memory?.
