Product details

Words become images - writing, drawing, designed surfaces. Stefan Marx has been working with word images for about twenty years. These are song lyrics, sayings, sentences, quotes that he translates into paintings or drawings, as well as onto surfaces, using his own script, his graphic writing. The poetry of the formulations and the painterly quality of the execution come together to create powerful works. Each one is developed with high precision for the specific situation - whether it's an edition, a unique piece, a house, or a small invitation card. This is the first book on word images in many variations and across all media. Texts explain Stefan Marx's drawing, graphic, and painting work, as well as his unique play between art and pop, between signs and life.

Stefan Marx (1979 Schwalmstadt, Hesse) is a drawer, skateboarder, and cultural philosopher. He publishes artist books in self-publishing, creates album covers for various labels, and showcases his work at art book fairs and in galleries. He has participated in numerous international exhibitions and created graphic works for programs and labels. In August 2019, his daily drawn column appeared in the New York Times.
