Statistisches Jahrbuch der Schweiz 2021 / Annuaire statistique de la Suisse 2021

The Statistical Yearbook of Switzerland is published in 2021 in its 128th edition. This long-standing flagship publication of the Federal Statistical Office, which is continuously expanded, provides a comprehensive statistical overview of the state of the country and offers an up-to-date insight into 21 topics: from population to space and environment, work and wages, prices, companies and employees, housing and construction, transport, health, public finances, to education, the financial situation of households, and crime. Presented in both German and French, with overview chapters in English and Italian, it includes summarizing and commentary texts, explanatory glossaries, and numerous graphics and maps. A section of tables and an index of keywords allow for both an overview and in-depth exploration of each topic. A special chapter in the 2021 edition, based on a project conducted by the BFS in collaboration with the National Museum of Zurich and the research institute Sotomo, provides surprising insights into significant developments over the long term through maps on topics from historical censuses (gender and age, foreign population, religious landscape, and language).
