Statistik: Klassisch oder Bayes

Descriptive statistics is the science of making inferences about a population based on a sample. There are two predominant schools of thought within it: classical statistics and Bayesian statistics. Classical statistics relies solely on the sample for estimating parameters and testing hypotheses, while Bayesian statistics also takes into account what is already known or assumed about the problem. This difference is tied to varying opinions on what probability means: relative frequency in random experiments (the classical view) or a measure of knowledge (the Bayesian view). This book aims to clarify and examine these perspectives: starting from the respective concepts of probability, classical and Bayesian methods are developed and applied to estimation and testing problems, highlighting similarities and differences, with particular attention to the details.
