Product details
The statics of larger ship hulls is extraordinarily complex. The forces acting on the structure are manifold and vary greatly depending on the loading and environmental conditions, and not everything can be predicted theoretically. For example, there was a proliferation of cases in which rivets came loose during docking on larger ships, or where excessive torsional forces occurred under certain circumstances when gearwheel gears were used. This work from 1925 shows in words and pictures how such convoys must be designed and built to meet the requirements of the classification societies and, in addition, to satisfy the special requirements of practice. Owners of traditional ships, but also shipyards, will find a lot of basic information here for work on ship hulls.
