Perplies, BerndBernd Perplies, born in Wiesbaden in 1977, studied film studies, German studies, book studies and psychology in Mainz. Parallel to a position at the German Film Institute (DIF) in Frankfurt am Main, he turned to professional writing after his studies. Today he works as a writer, translator and journalist. He is the editor of the website Ringbote.de as well as Corona Magazine and is part of the translation team for the Star Trek novels published by Cross Cult. His debut novel "Tarean - Son of the Cursebringer" was published in August 2008, followed by other fantastic works. His most recent work is "Kampf um Aidranon" (Battle for Aidranon), the second volume of his "Empire of Dragons" saga, which won the German Fantasy Prize in 2015. Bernd Perplies lives near Stuttgart. But since Starfleet still ignores his letters of application today, the trained journalist and studied literature decided on a life as a writer. He writes novels and non-fiction for readers young and old, including the children's book series Sagenhaft Eifel! and Die unheimlichen Fälle des Lucius Adler as well as the humorous tale of woe Der alte Mann und das Netz - Mein Vater entdeckt das Internet. His works have so far been translated into five languages, set to music and adapted for the stage. Humberg was awarded the German Fantasy Prize in 2015.
