This volume comprehensively presents the status quo, upheavals and perspective developments of gender studies in sports science on a theoretical and empirical basis. The articles brought together here from the 2012 and 2018 annual conferences of the dvs Commission for Gender Studies show the breadth of gender studies in sports science and impressively point to the relevance of the category of gender, also in its interconnectedness with other social affiliations (e.g. ethnicity, social milieu, age, etc.).
