On August 1, 2014, the revised provisions of the Federal Act on International Assistance in Tax Matters (Tax Assistance Act, StAhiG) came into force. The StAhiG relates to administrative procedure law and tax procedure law, international legal assistance in criminal matters, administrative criminal law, and criminal procedure law. Its interpretation and application are complex, as it is also influenced by international legal norms. This includes not only assistance clauses in double taxation agreements but also tax information agreements and other treaties. This work represents the first commentary on the StAhiG. The practical commentary explains the legal provisions, incorporating case law, and offers solutions to unresolved issues.
