In the third edition, the commentary on product liability law has been comprehensively rewritten. The case law from the highest courts and appellate courts in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria has been reviewed, along with the relevant literature in the German-speaking world. Additionally, Swiss product liability law has gained a new dimension with the Product Safety Act that came into force in 2010, as the public law duty catalog is now a significant benchmark for assessing safety-related and technical requirements for the civil law duties of care of manufacturers, importers, and retailers in Switzerland. The chapter on criminal producer liability and the country overview have been expanded and updated.
