Gegenwart und Zukunft des Anwaltsberufs Le présent et l’avenir de la profession d’avocat·e Presente

The Fédération suisse des avocats (FSA) celebrates its 125th anniversary in 2023, marking an important milestone in the history of the profession. Since the entry into force of the Law on the Free Movement of Lawyers in 2002, many changes have taken place, such as the unification of the law on lawyers, the adoption of new regulations, and the increased mobility of lawyers in Switzerland. This anniversary provides an opportunity to take stock of the profession, analyze current and future challenges, and focus on the capacity for adaptation and dynamism of lawyers.

Legislative changes, technological progress, the transformation of professional structures, and social changes have affected the legal profession in Switzerland. The FSA has responded to these changes by adopting a new Swiss Code of Ontology in June 2023, adapted to the realities and contemporary practices of the profession. These reports, edited by a group of specialists, reflect these dynamics and testify to the ability of the legal profession to adapt to the challenges it faces.

The Swiss Bar Association (SAV) will also celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2023, marking an important milestone in the history of the legal profession. Since the Act on the Free Movement of Lawyers came into force in 2002, numerous changes have taken place, such as the standardization of lawyers' law, the adoption of new regulations, and greater mobility of lawyers in Switzerland. The anniversary provides an opportunity to take stock of the legal profession, analyze current and future challenges, and highlight the adaptability and dynamism of the legal profession. Legal developments, technological progress, changes in professional structures, and social changes have characterized the legal profession in Switzerland. The SAV has responded to these developments.
