Product details

In the past, cities were planned as a whole unit. Viewed from an integrated and large-scale perspective, the greatest cities in the world emerged with large squares and green spaces, as well as a complex combination of residential buildings, public structures, and infrastructure. Today, urban design is only a matter of areas. Politicians and urban planners believe that the city can no longer be thought of as a totality. Even in Switzerland, there are only design projects for smaller urban areas. While this has led to the creation of qualitative living environments, it has been on a limited scale. By incorporating inspiring historical and current examples, this issue aims to demonstrate how urban planning could be thought of in a more integrated way again. After all, we face significant challenges regarding inner densification, as well as ecological and climatological difficulties. These challenges do not stop at municipal and neighborhood boundaries.
