Product details

A cultural institution that radiates far into the region: the Solothurn City Theatre. Since the early 17th century, it had successively expanded in a row of houses in the old town, and so the conversion of the grown ensemble placed high demands on all involved. The fact that baroque parapet paintings were discovered in the theatre hall was not only a stroke of luck for those involved, but also for all future visitors to the performances in this special place of dramatic art. This publication documents the actual state of the Stadttheater before construction work began and the period leading up to its completion in January 2015 in text and images. Various authors, including Peter Bichsel and the architecture critic Caspar Schärer, have their say and make the reconstruction comprehensible.
