Ellipses represent a linguistic form that is recurrent and has recognizable aesthetic functions in literary texts. But what types of aesthetic functions are involved? This question is at the center of the present work. With an approach that bridges linguistics and literary studies, the aim is to determine which syntactic and semantic properties characterize ellipses and what aesthetic functions can arise from these properties in a literary text.
