Precision forming technology

The book presents the results of the priority program "Precision Forming Technology," funded by the German Research Foundation from 1981 to 1989. A total of 40 research projects with durations ranging from one to four years were carried out within this program. The broad range of topics addressed by 14 applicants includes, for example, rolling, forging, tube drawing, and extrusion of glass profile bars in the area of precision semi-finished product manufacturing, as well as cold bulk forming, die forging, and bending in the area of further processing. The projects, which were conducted not only at manufacturing institutes but also at institutes in the field of technical mechanics, particularly plastic mechanics, deepened and expanded the fundamental knowledge in metallophysics, materials science, plasticity theory, and tribology.
