Molecular Basis of Symbiosis

The book "Molecular Basis of Symbiosis" offers a comprehensive examination of the symbiotic relationships between prokaryotes, which are widespread in nature and ecologically significant. It highlights the co-evolution of the involved organisms and the specific mechanisms of signal transfer and mutual regulation that lead to novel physiological capabilities. In an era where molecular biological techniques are available to study partner organisms both in association and independently from cultures, this work aims to promote a broader understanding of how symbiotic systems function. It presents 14 different model systems, encompassing both well-known symbioses and newer experimental systems that have recently become accessible for experimental manipulation.
