Product details

"Medicinal Plants of Central Asia: Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan" is a comprehensive reference book that documents the results of a collaboration between researchers from Rutgers University and institutions in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. It is the first book to describe over 200 of the most significant medicinal plants of Central Asia, many of which are presented here for the first time in English regarding their medical applications and effects. The majority of the described plants grow wild in the region, with some being endemic and others widely used in traditional plant-based medicine. The book begins with four introductory chapters that address the geography, climate, and vegetation of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, followed by a chapter on the history of the use of medicinal plants and another on phytochemistry. The main part of the book is dedicated to 208 species of medicinal plants, complemented by high-quality color photographs. Additionally, the book includes three useful appendices that contain glossaries of botanical, chemical, and medical terms to enhance the understanding of the scientific content.
