Since the 2010s, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has experienced a tremendous boost due to successes in Machine Learning (ML). This is partly due to the significantly increased amount of available digital data and partly due to innovations in the field of Artificial Neural Networks and Deep Learning (DL). Knowledge-based AI includes not only traditional expert systems and rule-based systems but also the technologies and standards developed as part of the Semantic Web Initiative since the 1990s. These have enabled the development of extensive Knowledge Graphs. Hybrid AI approaches combine Machine Learning and knowledge-based AI. Considered promising, they have been researched for years. This anthology demonstrates how innovative hybrid AI methods are already being successfully applied in practice today. This is an Open Access book.
