Digital communication networks

In telecommunications technology, a new era began in the early 1980s, the end of which is still not in sight. Following the transition from electromechanics to computer-controlled switching systems and digital transmission, efforts are now underway to implement broadband communication on the hardware side and service-integrating as well as intelligent networks on the software side. These two tasks are addressed in the present book. As in his previous works, the author once again explains the current state and future development of this important field of communication technology in a manner that is accessible even to non-specialists. The thematic diversity and clarity of the presentation facilitate both engineers' understanding of complex technical interrelations and the preparation of administrators and business leaders for often very important topics.
