Deutschsprachiges Nature Writing von Goethe bis zur Gegenwart

In recent years, the debate around a 'New Nature Writing' has begun to take root in the German-speaking literary scene. Can the category of 'Nature Writing,' which originates from a long Anglo-Saxon literary tradition (White; Thoreau), be productively applied to the history of literature in the German-speaking world beyond contemporary literature? What transnational connections exist, and how does Nature Writing relate to the tradition of nature poetry and other literary genres? Why has Nature Writing not yet been established as a category in German studies? Wouldn't a new, distinct designation be more sensible? Renowned literary scholars engage critically with these and other questions in contributions focusing on figures such as Brockes, Goethe, Novalis, Hölderlin, A. v. Humboldt, Stifter, Fontane, Lehmann, Kolmar, Kafka, Sebald, Handke, and Kinsky, revealing controversies and new perspectives.
