Product details
What is the significance of consumption in the social transition phase between climate change and digitalization processes? Changing consumption in the sense of sustainable development and actively using digitalization for social transformation is closely linked to a changed understanding of consumption as well as to partly new roles of the actors. This volume offers ways in which sustainability-oriented research and education can make these new roles and the associated transformative potential of consumption visible and usable. This objective is linked to the concern to support consumers, to practice forms of consumption in the sense of a circular economy, and to take greater account of consumption actions beyond market-mediated solutions.
The content includes: Sustainable consumption as utopia? How can consumption develop transformative power? Changing social practices, not individuals! About the transformative potentials of failure, smart consumerism and smart technologies? Opportunities and limits of digitalization for climate-friendly consumption, on/offline: Digitalization between discursive political consumption and the pathogenic potential of consumption, consumer education in and for change: Normative, conceptual and curricular transformations in the mirror of consumer society developments and the problem of drawing boundaries in heterogeneous classes, how can conferences have a transformative effect through their design?
