The author explains in this introductory text at the bachelor's level the technical terms used in computer vision: fundamentals of human vision, color, precise definitions related to the concept of "image," transformations, linear and non-linear filters, Fourier transformation, morphology, features in the image such as edges, corners, geometric shapes using Hough transformation, various hulls and skeletonization. Furthermore, higher features such as SIFT, shape context, and statistical features, as well as texture features. The determination of segments (connected regions of similar colors or grayscale values) is discussed in detail in a separate chapter.
