This book provides an introduction to image analysis. In addition to the actual digital image processing, it also covers object recognition in images and three-dimensional image interpretation. The latter two areas play an important role, among other things, in autonomous mobile robotics. The following topics are addressed: image processing, morphological image operations, image segmentation, calculation of object features, classification, three-dimensional image interpretation, and motion analysis from image sequences.
