Sprachdiagnostik im Mathematikunterricht der Grundschule

Linguistic competencies are highly relevant for subject-specific learning, which is also recognized in educational policy. Therefore, language skills and abilities are not only included in the educational standards for the subject of German but also for mathematics, which challenges the professional actions of teachers regarding the promotion and diagnosis of linguistic competencies in the subject. However, there is a particular lack of standardized instruments for formal diagnostics of linguistic competencies in mathematics, especially in primary education. To address this, a test for diagnosing written language competencies with a specific focus on primary school mathematics instruction was developed and validated as part of four sub-studies. The procedure, named SAMT (Linguistic Expression Competence in Mathematics), can be used in research and practice in the future due to its good psychometric properties.
