According to a study by the international aid organization Oxfam, only 85 people today possess as much wealth as the entire poorer half of the world's population. It does not seem far-fetched that in the near future, merely sixteen families will have divided the entire world among themselves, relegating the rest of humanity to servitude and waste. To secure their wealth and power, each of these families keeps a genetically modified Lazarus, who is nearly invincible and practically immortal. Greg Rucka has written a gripping post-apocalyptic drama, and Michael Lark has created cool, unflinchingly clear images for it. It is no coincidence that Lazarus was nominated for the Eisner Award for Best New Series in 2014.
