Product details

With the volume "Spheres," Peter Sloterdijk has completed the three-part attempt of his new narrative of the history of humanity. The anthropological term that gives the trilogy its title, "sphere," refers to the author's main thesis, which suggests that life is a mere formality. It implies that living, forming spheres, and thinking are different expressions of the same concept. The volume "Bubbles," published in 1998, reconstructs how the close proximity of people to one another creates a special kind of interior. The emphasis in the first volume of "Spheres" is on the thesis that the couple represents a more authentic entity than the individual. In the philosophical novel "Globes" (1999), it is narrated how classical metaphysical thinking, as a contemplation of the great round whole, extends to the world, the globe, and sets in motion several forms of globalization.
