Product details

On the basis of data sets provided by the Deutsche Bundesbank, Rolf Böve empirically examines whether sector concentration or specialisation in certain sectors in the credit business only brings disadvantages for one bank. The results show, among other things, that specialisation tends to go hand in hand with better monitoring quality and, in the case of credit cooperatives, with a lower-risk choice of sector. In the case of savings banks, the monitoring advantages are reflected in higher risk-adjusted lending income for the specialised institutions.
