Space-atmospheric information

Spatial perception, the relationship between space and light, and the topic of materiality are the central thematic focuses of the Institute of Spatial Design at the Graz University of Technology. Divided into three thematic chapters - space, material and light - this new book shows on a theoretical as well as applied level how and through what built space is constituted and becomes effective. At the center is the question of architectural translation, which is always closely linked to specific spatial ideas and contains atmospheric information. The text contributions explore questions of spatial perception, on the one hand in a historical context, and on the other from a theoretical perspective with regard to the different ways of perceiving that are available to us and influence the viewing, understanding, and thus the production of space.
