Soziales Management in der isländischen Crowdsourced Constitution

Social management is a concept originally from Brazil that aims, among other things, to expand the participation and engagement of the population in decisions that affect the lives of all people. This field of knowledge envisions the establishment of a new public sphere that seeks to bring people and politics together so that they can collectively discuss and make decisions about the needs and future of the community. The Icelandic People's Constitution is an innovative process that offers new opportunities for the development of democracy. Between 2009 and 2013, the Icelandic government led the process of creating the world's first crowd-sourced constitution. In the past, the process of constitution drafting was never associated with direct public involvement. This work aims to strengthen this perspective based on practical experiences with the process of drafting the Icelandic Constitution. The analysis of this process allows for a connection between social management and the Icelandic crowd-sourced constitution process, presenting social management as an alternative that can ensure participation and emancipation.
