'Soziale Nachhaltigkeit' als Kriterium im geförderten Wohnbau in Wien

Social sustainability was introduced in 2010 as the fourth pillar alongside architecture, economy, and ecology in the context of developer competitions in social housing in Vienna. It is definitely a cross-cutting issue and is less suited for implementation in a single discipline. In other words, the formula 'developers demand - architects design - consultants ensure sustainability' is no longer valid. Rather, it requires complementary teamwork, so that 'architects design - developers promote - and social sustainability consultants conceptualize participatively in the spirit of sustainability.' Social sustainability, especially in terms of systemic process consulting, has great potential, particularly in large-scale residential construction, to plan and create innovative solutions for new and socially compatible forms of housing and use in the future.
