Soziale Arbeit in der Spaltung

In the first decade after the turn of the millennium, the well-regarded German diploma program in social work was subjected to the requirements of the Bologna Process. The transition to bachelor’s and master’s degrees was implemented by educational institutions with varying levels of commitment and took several years. This changed structure also influenced the quality and practical relevance of the program. In response to the increasing demand for professionals during these years, both capacity expansion and the admission of more private educational institutions were pursued. However, the tariff-related classifications of the now not-so-new degrees and the assistant systems that emerged in their shadow remain unsatisfactorily resolved. The authors of this volume provide a critical assessment and demonstrate that both the conditions of study and the frameworks for practice have progressively deteriorated.
