"Memory of a Dear Place" is the translation of the title of this collection of three enchanting pieces for violin and piano. It refers to the estate of Brailov, where Tchaikovsky spent May 1878 in idyllic seclusion with his patron and friend Nadezhda von Meck, completing his composition. Created in close temporal proximity to his Violin Concerto, these pieces also showcase Tchaikovsky as an inimitable romantic melodist. The Russian Tchaikovsky specialist Alexander Komarov, who edited the edition, guarantees the highest editorial quality by consulting all relevant sources in Russian and international archives. He was also able to definitively refute the previously held belief that the title Souvenir d'un lieu cher was added only after Tchaikovsky's death.
