Solidarität heute

Until a few years ago, solidarity was considered a leftist, union-related term engaged against global inequality. This changed with expressions that transcended national borders – from "Je suis Charlie" to "We can do it," "#MeToo," and "Black Lives Matter," as well as the surge of solidarity during the COVID-19 pandemic. But what are the foundations of solidarity today? How can solidarity in action succeed? Does a click on social media mean that one is acting in solidarity against grievances or structural shortcomings? What kinds of hostility do people face when they publicly express solidarity? Is solidarity a key to overcoming current crises? The contributions in this book explore what solidarity means today in its diverse forms.
