Smart Criminal Justice

The use of modern technology in policing, criminal justice and the correctional system is becoming increasingly important in the digital age. In Switzerland, too, algorithmic applications are increasingly shaping the work of police and criminal justice authorities. Particularly in the context of predictive policing, threat management, crime analysis and risk-oriented sanctions enforcement, it is hard to imagine life without technical aids. This use of increasingly intelligent technology raises various legal, criminological, administrative, and not least sociopolitical questions. For the first time, this anthology takes a comprehensive look at these questions and deals with the potentials and risks of digitalization for police work and criminal justice in various contributions. The work thus allows an interdisciplinary as well as critical approach to the phenomenon of a "Smart Criminal Justice" and thus to the criminal justice of the digital age.
