Sirach (Ecclesiasticus) - Pars altera

Vetus Latina or 'Old Latin Bible' is the collective name for the large and very diverse group of Latin Bible texts that have been in use in Christian communities since the 2nd century. With the spread and triumph of Christianity in the Roman Empire, Latin increasingly prevailed over Greek as a lingua franca - in North Africa as well as in Spain, England, Gaul and Germania. Thus, up to Jerome's Vulgate and beyond, a multitude of quite different, often inaccurate and until then never authorized by the church Bible translations arose, which are edited scientifically in the edition Vetus Latina.
