He could have been the Jim Morrison of our time. Equipped with a distinctive voice and charisma, Mark Lanegan rose to become one of the top bands of the grunge era with his band The Screaming Trees in the early nineties, only to fall even deeper. Drug addiction, homelessness, and street crime were the consequences. However, while many of his friends, like Kurt Cobain, did not survive the decade, Lanegan managed to return to the stage and was exceptionally productive until his death in 2022. The unchanged reissue of Mark Lanegan's autobiography is now available under the original title "Sing Backwards and Weep.".
