Product details
Frank Miller, born on January 27, 1957, in Olney, Maryland, USA, is an American writer and artist who ushered in a darker, more mature era of comic storytelling with his works. Miller began his career in the late 1970s by designing The Twilight Zone, a comic series based on Rod Serling's classic television show. He soon found work with major publishers Marvel and DC Comics, illustrating covers and interiors for a number of titles, most notably Marvel's The Spectacular Spider-Man. With Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (1986), Frank Miller created a groundbreaking chapter featuring one of the most iconic figures in comic history: an aging Bruce Wayne who comes out of retirement to don the Batman cape once more. The following year, Miller crafted a four-part Batman story that is considered the definitive retelling of the character's origin, later collected as Batman: Year One. Much of the 1990s was spent working on Sin City, a noir epic published in several volumes by Dark Horse Comics. These stories were compiled in the collection Frank Miller's Big Damn Sin City (2014). Together with artist Lynn Varley, he created 300 (1999), a graphic novel about the Battle of Thermopylae.
