Kinfolk Issue Eighteen: In our winter edition, we explore the relationship between community and design. How can design strengthen the bonds with our families, friends, and neighbors? And how can good design enhance our quality of life? Design is a form of communication. It's about how an object or idea speaks to its audience. But good design not only conveys its message; it also draws us into a conversation. The voices in the pages of this issue have taught us that there is no fixed set of rules that defines what "good design" is. Form does not have to follow function, and function does not have to follow form – in fact, there should be no following at all, but only leading.
