A Biography and Publishing History in Letters Brigitte Fischer was born in 1905 in Berlin as the daughter of the publisher couple Hedwig and Samuel Fischer. Her parents were the most influential authors of the time, including Gerhart Hauptmann, Arthur Schnitzler, Rainer Maria Rilke and Thomas Mann. On her ninth birthday, Brigitte "Tutti" Fischer received her first poetry album as a gift, the authors wrote in it. In 1934, she took over the management of her parents' publishing house together with her husband Gottfried Bermann Fischer. Years of exile followed, the return to Germany in 1948, and during all this time she was in correspondence with the authors. This book collects personal memories, photos and letters with which Brigitte B. Fischer described her life story and the eventful history of the S. Fischer publishing house up to the sixties of the twentieth century.
